From the WashPost editorial page this morning:

Uzbekistan is a test of whether President Bush intends to implement the democracy doctrine he has proclaimed for the past two years -- and whether he will continue to allow the Pentagon to pursue an entirely contrary policy

Our airbase in Uzbekistan is basically OBE now that we can base the same aircraft in Afghanistan. Everybody besides the Pentagon thinks we should get the hell outta there so we can dump the bloody-by-association relationship we have with President Karimov, Uzbekistan's very own version of Pol Pot.

Why doesn't POTUS call SECDEF and tell him to start cutting bait? What is hard about this one?
