Pastor Henry Brinton, on the intersection of faith & science:

There's an elegant simplicity to natural selection that fits very well with the concept of a God who's willing to take His time with us, and let us face the logical consequences of our actions, both bad and good ....

I believe that my faith, like any faith, is strongest when it answers the questions it is prepared to answer, and when it avoids the questions it cannot address

Smart evangelism respects the intelligence of smart people. Too bad there's not more of it. If there were, there would be more Christians.

Comments:
Your plea will never be fully answered until christians stop believing in the literal truth of the bible, pure and simple. Isn't that why this is still an issue? There is plenty of modern science that calls into question the traditional christian worldview. But no one is up in arms about what's being taught in astrophysics class because the bible doesn't happen to spend much time talking about whether the stars are moving or not.

There's a lesson here for future civilizations: make your mythology as non-specific as possible, and it will last longer.
